Saltash Apple Project

Saltash Apple Project

Suggested text draft
Historically, the Tamar Valley was famous for fruit trees, and Saltash has records of apple orchards (Elwell, Forder etc) and cider presses going back many years
SEA is regenerating interest in apple trees by planting orchards and organising the annual Kalan Gwav festival - Celtic for First Day of Winter - which features apples as the symbol of immortality, knowledge and fertility. There's music, and the Essa Wassail song is sung, and the strength of old, established apple trees is ceremoniously passed on to saplings. And there's food and of course freshly pressed apple juice. The manager of the Saltash Apple Project is Shojiro Frank
